Pool Filter Types We Service & Install

Cartridge Filters

The most popular filter type in Central Florida. Easy to maintain—just remove and hose off the cartridge. No backwashing needed. Excellent filtration down to 10-15 microns.

Brands

Pentair Clean & Clear, Hayward SwimClear, Jandy CL/CV

Maintenance

Clean cartridges every 4-8 weeks. Replace cartridges every 1-3 years depending on usage.

Best For

Most residential pools, especially screened enclosures with less debris.

Sand Filters

Simple, low-maintenance filtration using #20 silica sand. Backwash when pressure rises 8-10 PSI above clean. Filters down to 20-40 microns—adequate for most pools.

Brands

Pentair Sand Dollar, Hayward Pro-Series, Jandy

Maintenance

Backwash monthly. Replace sand every 5-7 years. Consider upgrading to ZeoSand or glass media for better filtration.

Best For

Pools with heavy debris, budget-friendly option, low maintenance preference.

DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filters

The finest filtration available—down to 2-5 microns. Uses diatomaceous earth powder as the filter media. Produces the clearest water but requires more maintenance.

Brands

Pentair FNS Plus, Hayward ProGrid, Sta-Rite System 3

Maintenance

Backwash and recharge with DE powder as needed. Disassemble and clean grids annually. Replace grids every 5-8 years.

Best For

Pool owners who want the absolute clearest water and don't mind the extra maintenance.
